Having played his first game for the national team at the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers last year already in the books, Chris Newsome spoke about Jordan Clarkson's work ethic during his time with Gilas.

"He works really hard. You can definitely tell that he has a system and he knows what he needs to do, in order for him to get better," Newsome recalled. "He brought all his trainers and everybody here with him, So that way he stays on top of his game."

"Of course, it's not just about performing while he's here, you know he's an investment to, you know, the NBA. So, he has to make sure that he's always getting better and performing at that NBA caliber," he added.

After seeing the Fil-Am NBA Superstar's training regimen, Newsome decided to re-evaluate and improve his own workout sessions moving forward.

"Just to see that type of work that he does, it helped me to kind of re-assess my own workouts and things like that and what I could do differently, in order for me to kind of take the same approach as an NBA player." the Meralco Bolts captain said.

Having seen how detail-oriented Jordan Clarkson is when it comes to his workouts behind the scenes, it definitely inspired Chris Newsome to get better as a basketball player – just like his Gilas teammate.

"It's definitely inspiring, it was nice to see and it's always nice to see NBA players and when they're putting in the unseen hours," the Gilas Pilipinas guard disclosed. "Everybody sees when they're playing in the game but they don't necessarily see the grind that they do in order to be able to perform at that level and to have that confidence that they have. So that, first and foremost, was probably the best thing for me to be able to see in person."
