Gilas Pilipinas To Face Angola, Dominican Republic, Italy In Group A At The FIBA World Cup 2023

Groupings were finally revealed during the FIBA World Cup 2023 Official Live Draw on April 29 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Gilas Pilipinas will have a tough road in the tournament as they are in Group A with Angola, Dominican Republic and Italy.

All these teams are no strangers to Gilas, however.

Gilas Pilipinas faced Italy and Angola ending in a forgettable perfomance in the 2019 FIBA World Cup with coach Yeng Guiao at the helm.

Then in 2021, the Philippines led by coach Tab Baldwin played against Dominican Republic at the FIBA Olympic Qualifying tournament in Belgrade, Serbia.

Gilas Pilipinas will open their FIBA World Cup campaign against the Dominican Republic on August 25 at the Philippine Arena. Followed by Angola on August 27 and Italy on August 29, respectively, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
