Gilas Pilipinas' win against Iran, 76 - 65, on Thursday at the Heyuan WUS International Basketball Tournament in China, a good sign for coach Chot Reyes. The national team showed cohesiveness both on offense and defense keeping the Iranians at bay most of the game.

Jamie Malonzo lead all scorers for Gilas with 11 points, rebounds and one assist while Dwight Ramos had 10 points, 4 rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Forward Calvin Oftana also added 10 points and one assist for the team.

Newcomer AJ Edu had a near double-double performance off the bench with 9 points and 9 rebounds, along with Rhenz Abando who finished with 8 points, two boards, and one assist.

Despite missing key players Scottie Thompson, Kai Sotto, Poy Erram, naturalized players Jordan Clarkson, Justin Brownlee, and Ange Kouame, in the tournament, the national team looks to extend their win streak against Senegal on Friday, August 4.
