Gilas Women Clobbers Vietnam For Bounce Back Victory
After losing to Indonesia previously, Gilas Pilipinas Women wasted no time to redeem themselves with a crushing 116 - 58 win over Vietnam on Saturday.
A fired-up Khate Castillo shot seven treys in the game dropping 22 points, grabbed 3 boards and a steal for Gilas Women at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Jack Animam had a double-double performance with 16 points, 13 rebounds, dropped 4 dimes and one steal. Center Clare Castro contributed with 15 points as well.
Six other players also joined the scoring party finishing in double figures while the rest of the team scored two points each.
On the other side, Thao Vy Truong scored 15 points for Vietnam.
The 60-point win notched an improved 3 - 1 record for the Philippines yet their three-peat gold medal hopes is still in danger.
Indonesia just needs to either win one or sweep their next couple of games to secure the gold.
Gilas Pilipinas Women are scheduled to face Thailand on Sunday, May 14.
