Sixth Place Finish For The Philippines At FIBA Women's Asia Cup

Gilas Pilipinas Women ended their 2023 FIBA Women's Asia Cup campaign at sixth place in a loss to Korea 80 - 71 on Saturday, July 1. It has been the best finish for the Philippines since being promoted to Division A in 2015.

Afril Bernardino, in a losing effort, lead all scorers for Gilas Women with 16 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Jack Animam and Khate Castillo both finished with 12 while Jhazmin Joson added 9 and points and 2 rebounds.

Super rookie Vanessa De Jesus scored 5 points, dropped 5 dimes, grabbed 4 boards, and 2 steals.

Jihyun Park did most of the scoring load for Korea as she finished with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists. Danbi Kim also contributed 14 points, 7 assists, 5 rebounds and 5 blocks, for her team.
