SMC's Partnership With FIBA Announced

San Miguel Corporation is officially a partner of the FIBA World Cup 2023 to be held in Manila on August.

The announcement was no surprise as SMC has been one of the top supporters of Gilas Pilipinas. For years, San Miguel Corporation has been synonymous with basketball as they have three ball clubs playing in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA): Ginebra San Miguel Gin Kings, San Miguel Beermen and Magnola Chicken Timplados.

Per Spin.ph, SMC President and CEO Ramon S. Ang says supporting the country's hosting of the most prestigious basketball competition is a no-brainer and is proud to be given the rare opportunity:

“We are very proud to have been given this rare opportunity to host the FIBA Basketball World Cup. I think it’s the best time to have a prestigious international competition in the Philippines. After almost three years of the pandemic, we want to say that we are open for business, Filipinos are excited to welcome athletes from all over the world, and we are all eager to watch the very best teams play in our homecourt,” Ang said.
