Undefeated No More: Gilas Women Loses To Indonesia
It simply just didn't go as planned for Gilas Pilipinas Women as they dealt a devastating 89 - 68 beatdown at the hands of undefeated Indonesia.
The Philippines' bid for a three-peat gold medal finish at the this year's Southeast Asian Games is already in peril. The loss sent them to a 2 - 1 record.
The game was close in the first half but it was a different story in the third quarter though. Indonesia's hot shooting was just too much to handle for the Filipinas.
Yuni Anggraeni chalked up 24 points for Indonesia while Kimberley Louis posted a double-double with 20 points and 15 boards.
In a losing but valiant effort, Janine Pontejos scored 11 points with Chack Cabinbin contributed with 10 markers. Center Jack Animam was limited to just 4 points in the game.
With the tournament in a round-robin format, Indonesia just needs to win two of their remaining games to secure the gold. The Philippines' chances of gold, on the other hand, must win all of their games and hope Indonesia loses their next couple of games.
Gilas Pilipinas Women will go up against Vietnam on May 13, Saturday.
